Louis Zahn was born in Konigsberg, Germany, in 1909, and immigrated to the United States with his parents when he was one year old. At the age of six, he sold chewing gum to car salesmen and customers on Chicago's "automobile row."
In 1931, Zahn borrowed $225 to start the Zahn Drug Company, which only stocked 20 items at the time. By 1976, his company employed 2,000 workers and sold $57 million in drugs annually.
