Alexander Harris*

Class of 1950

  • President Ronson Corporation

There are always opportunities for those who dedicate themselves to their goals and work hard to see them to fruition.

Alexander Harris went to work for Ronson Corporation in 1908, and shortly thereafter the company developed the first pocket lighter in 1913. Harris worked his way up the ladder and, in 1940, became the company's second president.

During World War II, the company developed new products to help with the war effort, such as flamethrowers and bomb fuses. Harris retired in 1953.
