Alexander G. Hardy*

Alexander Hardy could not remember a time in his life when he did not work. At age six, he worked as a fish peddler's assistant to help pay for his grammar school expenses. He also raised chickens and sold eggs to help support his family.

During World War II, Hardy filled top-level assignments as a naval intelligence specialist, including being assigned to the office of vice chief of naval operations. Following the war, he was chief prosecutor of Nazi ministers of state and executive counsel for the Nuremberg trials. He wrote the widely acclaimed books Hitler's Secret Weapon: The Managed Press and Propaganda Machine of Nazi Germany.

In the business arena, Hardy was senior vice president of National Airlines and then served as president of Canteen International SA. In 1965, he became chief executive of Avemco Group. Hardy was a member of the National Defense Executive Reserve in the Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations.
